Technical Video - There, Their, & They're Song
A multimedia projectThe Challenge
Create a multimedia project that teaches a common writing error. We were challenged by Dr. Rickly at TTU to select a common error, identify our audience, and create a multimedia response to teach the correct way to write. I selected the common mistake of using there, their, or they’re at the wrong time in sentences. Due to the fact that they audibly sound the same, they’re easily confused.
I wrote the lyrics & music
I played the guitar & harmonica
I sang lead and harmony
I designed the graphics & video
The Solution
Music! The way I was taught most of my grammar goodness was through the memory of song lyrics. So I started to write lyrics explaining the difference between there, their, and they’re. When the music turned out to be more of a hoedown flare, I knew I had something catchy. I added in harmonies, a harmonica, and some guitar. Then I used Snappa.com to create some graphics, compiled them in Filmora to add some animation, and created the video you see here.
You’ll hear my son at the very end of the video share his love for me, and his favorite part of the song!

My Fav Part
“Some of my favorite past time is playing music with my parents. This time I was able to play music with my kiddos, dance, and sing with them. It was a joy to create.” – Kori
