WordCamp San Antonio 2017

Oct 2, 2017 | PressTribe, Speaking

September 30 and October 1, 2017, was the third annual WordCamp 2017 event in San Antonio, Texas. It was the largest attended event yet. The lineup of speakers are definitely what drew the crowd to the UTSA downtown campus. Topics like podcasting, marketing, security, social media marketing, and search engine optimization were key workshops.

Getting Google to Love Your WordPress Website

Our own Kori Ashton spoke on Saturday about the basics of understanding Search Engine Optimization. We’ve all heard the buzz word “SEO” but truly understanding how it’s done can still be confusing. Kori took the time to teach actual techniques on how to not only improve your rank but also your conversion. Here are some amazing Sketchnotes by Prof. Clayton from that workshop.

Keynote

Kori was also the keynote speaker on Sunday. She shared 7 Keys to Sustainable Growth. She told her story of how she’s grown her company from a couch to a full crew. “I wish I had someone who had gone before me show some actual steps to getting to a better place more quickly. I’ve really had to troubleshoot and learn the hard way these past 5 years. If I can help just one person – it will be worth it,” said Kori.

We’ll add her video here as soon as it’s live on WordPress.tv. For now – check out some of her past WordCamp talks.

Other Speakers at WordCamp 2017

Other speakers included Jennifer Navarrete, Daniel Espinoza, Garrett Heath, Stefanie Young, Isaac Castillo, and the new CEO of Geekdom – David Garcia. For a full speaker lineup check out this page. There were attendees from all across Texas and even out of the state. If you’re not close to our beautiful city – be sure to look up a local Meetup Group or WordCamp in your area. They’re a great place to network and learn all things WordPress.
